You are bidding on a large, very rare original antique print from an 1870s French illustrated journal.
It depicts a Great Pyrenees dog (Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Chien de montagne des Pyrénées, Patou, Chien des Pyrénées, Gos de muntanya dels Pirineus, Montañés del Pirineo).
It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture measures about 7.5 x 8 inches, with a French caption below. There is unrelated text surrounding the print. which could be trimmed for framing.
The French caption reads: Chien Montaguard.
The page is in excellent condition for its age. It has one small brown fox mark in the white margin area below the print (see scan).
